The Ups & Downs of Horse Racing The weekend of racing started at Churchill downs as Einstein bested the field in the Clark Handicap, a race that the connections of Curlin most likely should have run him in. Never second guessing Jess Jackson, but the feeling I get in my heart of hearts is that either they felt it was too soon for him to come back from his last start in the Breeders’ Cup Classic or they felt it would be an incredibly daunting task to ask him to run down Com... Allen Jerkins trainee Merchant Marine was third. Mambo in Seattle was fourth for trainer Neil Howard. Curlin's $450,000 share of the $750,000 Jocke... Read More
Curlin will become the first racehorse to win over $10,000,000 when he wins the Jockey Club Gold Cup today. Don't get me wrong, as much as I like Curlin, I would love to beat him even more, and profit from his defeat today. However, his rivals in this race are a really disappointing lot who don't have a chance in hell of beating Curlin unless they've paid off the gate crew to load him in backwards. What I would look for to beat Curlin is enough speed to last in front of this stalker. No... Read More
