Blog Entry: Zenyatta remains unbeaten after winning the Grade 1, $5 million Breeders Cup Ladies Classic in an unforgettable performance against seven rivals in the 1 1/8 mile race over Santa Anita's Pro-Ride track. After trailing the field as far back as 10 lengths behind, four-year-old Zenyatta bounded forward from outside of her rivals as they exited the final turn, drawing away in an effortless-looking performance, with her ears pricked up as she won by 1 1/2 lengths in her ninth straight victorious lifetime start. Cocoa Beach was second, Music Note third. The final time was 1:46.85. Heavy favorite Zenyatta returned $3.00 to win. John Shirreffs is the winning trainer, and Mike Smith was the pilot, winning his twelfth Breeders Cup race--earlier in the afternoon he won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies on Stardom Bound.
