Title: Breeders Cup 2008 Survival Guide
Tags: breederscup 2008 horse racing breeders cup handicapping horseplay
Blog Entry: The Breeders Cup has always been the most stressful of all the big race days for me--the Cup runeth over, big time. Fourteen championship races, two days, familiar heroes start to look quite vulnerable in very strong fields, and... euros, my god the euros... with their time form ratings, no points-of-call/beaten-lengths running line, Frankie Dettori doing backflips all over the place. Curlin, take me away. If you're still handicapping, welcome to the club. Here are the tools of the trade to get you ready to play the 2008 Breeders Cup Championships: BREEDERS CUP NEWS Bloodhorse.com Breeders Cup News - This is my favorite horse racing news site, and is the first place I'll check for news. Breederscup.com Division News - Take a look at all the Divisions and check the headlines for each one--useful because the big headlines on the top Thoroughbred news sites keep reverting to the top two stories. BREEDERS CUP HANDICAPPING FREE PAST PERFORMANCES - Free PPs and your favorite handicapping tools can be found right here on horseracingfans.net. Check the RACE CALENDAR as well, and click on the Breeders Cup races for hints on where you will get free Breeders Cup Past Performances. Personally, I use BRIS Ultimate PPs exclusively, and with Santa Anita's new Pro Ride surface making this year's Breeders Cup even more challenging for horseplayers, the Track Bias Stats sheet that comes with every Ultimate Past Performance is going to be very helpful. This leads to the next topic... BREEDERS CUP WAGERING TwinSpires - You get free Ultimate Past Performances for every track you wager through TwinSpires, and the Breeders Cup will be on the wagering menu Friday and Saturday. Santa Anita is otherwise a TVG exclusive track, and that type of thing has caused dismay for horseplayers who already have another wagering account somewhere else or don't live in one of the 15 states where TVG does business. But... Bodog Racebook - You can also bet the Breeders Cup and any major North American track through Bodog, and they rebate a percent of your wagers. Minimum deposit is only half of what the ADWs want, so if you already have a wagering account and need a back-up or something to bet the widest range of tracks, you'll get a good value with the Bodog Racebook . WATCH THE BREEDERS CUP ON TELEVISION OR INTERNET RACE CALENDAR - Friday's races will be on ESPN2, Saturday's races will be on ABC first, then ESPN. Click on each Breeders Cup race in the RACE CALENDAR for Post times and TV networks for each race. Calracing.com - Watch live racing and replays from California tracks. BREEDERS CUP RACE REPLAYS HORSE RACING VIDEOS - There are plenty of race replays on horseracingfans.net, with more being added every day. Use the search box to find a horse whose replays you want to watch. For some of the Breeders Cup races in the Race Calendar you can click on the contenders and that will take you to all their replays here. (You can instantly add any replays we don't have from site like youtube . When you add a horse's name to the tags in a video you add, please make it all one word like "dukeofmarmalade" instead of "Duke of Marmalade".) TwinSpires - If you know the track, date, and race number of the replay you want to watch, you can use the Video Race Library at TwinSpire s . BREEDERS CUP PICKS - Selections by NTRA Handicapping Championship winners are available too, so you don't have to miss out on any of the excitement this weekend even if you have no time to handicap. Are you ready? I'm excited about this Breeders Cup, it looks like there are going to be some very good prices coming in this year. May the horse be with you!
