Blog Entry: Hi all! Welcome back to Horse Racing Preview!! This week's feature is (of course) the Travers Stakes! This is Race 11 from Saratoga, set for one mile and a quarter on the dirt, and the purse is set at one million dollars!! Let's take a look at the field: Tale of Ekati (KY) 20/1 Colonel John (KY) 8/1 Da'Tara (KY) 8/1 Tizbig (KY) 30/1 Macho Again (FL) 6/1 Cool Coal Man (KY) 15/1 Amped (KY) 30/1 Harlem Rocker (ON) 4/1 Mambo in Seattle (KY) 5/1 Tres Borrachos (KY) 15/1 Pyro (KY) 7/2 Court Vision (KY) 12/1 What a field!! Lots of Kentucky Derby rivals here! But I've got Ontario-bred Harlem Rocker to rock it up in this one and get the Win! This horse was only defeated once in his career, making him 4-1. His last vic was last month in the Prince of Wales Stakes, where he came from 5 down to win by over one. He likes the stalking-style, as his past performance shows, but if you look at his first race, he also has the ability to come from behind. Also, he's keeping jock Ebar Coa up, and the two are indeed a winning pair. Next in line should be Mambo in Seattle . He's won his last three starts, and his last couple of works look great! He's a true closer, and can come from several back to rally and hit the wire. This distance is slightly longer than what he's used to, so that's why I've backed him up here, but really, it shouldn't matter. And finally, for the Show, let's stick with Colonel John . He ran third in his last start, beaten by Tres Borrachos, but his trip was consistant, so its that consistancy that I'm counting on for a repeat Show slot. He's also got my main man Garrett Gomez up, and we all know Garrett can strut his stuff around Saratoga, and he also knows how to lead Colonel John. (Garrett is 25% in the money.) This horse-jock combo is going to work great on Saturday! Well, I so look forward to this wild weekend of awesome races! This year's Travers is stacked, and I expect an awesome race!!
